I have applied to an agency in Texas and I have sent them my pictures. Everything seems to be going smoothly, but they don't have any IPs in Arkansas right now. There is an agent that is about a half hour away, but they make me a bit uncomfortable and don't really answer the phone. Communication is not all that great there. It was like pulling teeth to get the information out of this woman. She kept saying that the surrogate mother would not be covered, but that my maternity would cover the pregnancy? I really think she confused herself a little bit, but from what I understand, I will be covered throughout the pregnancy. The baby's expenses (hospital stay, tests, etc) will not be covered unless the baby is put on my insurance policy. I suppose that my insurance would be considered surrogate-inclusive.

I have a 4 month old son, now - and he's finally sleeping through the night - WOW! I've gotten 7 hours in a row, THREE days straight! How exciting is that??

I have read in different agency information that the surrogate gets a set amount of money every time there is a transfer. I think that it would be a good idea.... an example would make this easier. Each transfer costs $10,000 with $2,000 being the IPs out-of-pocket. Instead of them paying that amount plus a set amount to the surrogate each time, there should be an account for the surrogate with, let's say, $6,000 in it. So, my IM and I went yesterday to another consult w/ the infertility clinic to discuss the IUI. The NP was like "should we do an ultrasound to check EXACTLY where you are in your cycle?" I leave Wednesday morning for my trip to Texas! Everything is aranged for my transplant which will take place in Huston at 11:00am. You know it can be really depressing to be yourself sometimes. You have to be afraid of what others will think of you, not because you aren't comfortable with yourself, but because society, and people that judge harshly. I guess with nothing happening....I am going to put surrogacy on the side for now. I am still very serious about it. My next goal after surrogacy was to lose 40 lbs. I just wanted to wait until I was over the pregnancy. That way I wouldn't gain none back. But because my weight is such a big problem to everyone that I come into contact with, I will do that first.
