Hi,,I am a woman who is 54 years old ,have given birth to 8 wonderful children and have read articles on older women being surrogate, this is something I have always wanted to do and most articles state the age is below 40 years to be a surrogate, yet 2 articles I have researched indicates a 61 and 52 year old as surrogate. My health is excellent and am curious if this is even an option for me to investigate further.

Sorry didn't mean to sound so harsh, if I understand correctly the risks or more general health risks that are associated with one aging, trying to carry a pregnancy which often times is a multiple pregnancy. The other factor is most RE's like to see a SM that has carried a pregnancy to term within the past few years, to insure everything's still "working". An increased risks of downs and miscarriage are not really factors because it would be a GS situtation unless the eggs being used are of advanced maternal age. I wish you luck in your pursuit to find answers. And here is a blog of a local family that had their mother carry for them last year at 56 yrs old.

Welcome to the site! I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but,I think you will find it pretty much impossible to be a SM. The older surros you're referring to are usually related to the IM they are carrying for and are very rare with a high risk of complications.
