You are correct that was the mock transfer. The mock cycle if required by your RE involves a few weeks of the med protocol of your RE. You will have blood draws and U/S throughout the cycle to make sure your body is responding to the meds correctly.…

About Me
I am a 35 year old, married (14 years) mother of 3 beautiful healthy children. I am currently in a holding pattern.

I was matched with a local family and everything was going great. About 2-3 weeks before I was to start on my meds, I found out that I had a clot in my leg. It was the mixture of a varicose vein and the estrogen from the birth control pills that caused it. I am now on blood thinners and waiting for this to go away. After the clot is gone, they will close down the vein. If everything goes well then I should be able to move forward.

Update

Well, my IP's are currently looking for a new GS due to the blood clot that has formed in my leg. They really want to find someone local but they are having a hard time. My IM contacted me last week and asked if I would consider being their GS again once everything is done with my leg.

I am still interested but there are some new factors. My husband is being deployed at the end of the year. If I do go ahead and be a GS for this family again he will be gone for almost the entire pregnanc… Continue

Any GS's inthe Kansas City area still looking for a match?

I had planned on being a GS for a local family but due to some medical things that have come up for me, I am not able to. So they are searching again for a GS.

They are very ready to start ASAP. They would love someone in the Johnson County, KS area but I think that KC Metro would be fine. They would love to go to all doctor's appointments.

If you know someone or if you are in this area please contact me so I can pass along your info.

Thanks,
Bridget

Quick question re: mock cycle/mock transfer

Are these the same thing or not?

I went in the the RE and they did the "exam". They did the saline balloon and measured so they would know exactly where to put the embryo. I consider this the mock transfer.

When I hear the term mock cycle I think maybe it has more to do with meds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well it looks like we are stopping before we officially start

I don't think that I have updated in the last couple weeks. Well, I went in for the psych exam and all of the testing. Did what I think was the mock transfer, the did the exam and did the saline balloon thing and did all of the measurements. The doctor said that after the exam and the fact that my previous pregnancies were uneventful, I am a perfect candidate to be a surrogate. I was so happy!!! I also received my contract that same day and everything looked good.

Well, that same day I started… Continue

Wish me luck!

I am going today to meet with the clinic and get my screenings done. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I will post more later after the appointment. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I did go to Oregon Trail. I am a 93 grad also. I can't really place the name but he looks familiar. How funny. We may have known each other but it was a pretty big school. I will have to check my year book. That is so funny!

OMG!!! THAT IS AWESOME!!! John wanted me to ask you if you went to Oregon Trail. But yes, he did go to ON. His last name is Jordan... John Jordan... ring a bell??? I went there my sophomore year. I was dating Justin Allen at the time... did WE know each other??? I am a '93 grad... from a different school, but that is my time-frame age-wise. What a small world!!!

Thank you Bridget! I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Every closing door is the opportunity for a new door to open. I mean, it's a bummer, but one never knows what might be right around the corner. It is exciting news for my friend and I support her and love her. She is a wonderful mommy and I am so happy that another child will have such caring and loving parents. Thank you for your support! :)

I think that we may be doing the same thing. It seems like it will be safer and much cheaper then dealing with it after the fact. Thanks for the pic comment!

Thank you, Bridget! There are no policies available in my area that will cover a surrogacy (boooo). We are going the self pay route. I called the local hospitals and OB's and got their cash pay rate and we chose the one we were all most comfortable with. It's pretty much the same as your average deductable. As long as everything goes smoothly, of course.

Mine is a group plan through my employer. I had no luck finding ANY individual polices in MO that cover surrogacy. It sucks.

I'm not sure that you would be able to find anything specific on the site. On the MO site I could file a formal complaint with BCBS with my reasoning why. If the state of Kansas has a law that all pregnancies must be covered, then the KS Department of Insurance would probably fight for you. You might start by filing the complaint and then trying to contact someone by phone. It's worth a shot. I know it worked for another surrogate on SMO who had a different type of insurance and was in CT. Thats where I got the idea. Good luck. Please keep me posted. Thank you for understanding that I'm trying to help. I know I got a little over bearing.

Hi Bridget. Looking for a GS. Clinic is in CA. Need one urgent or lose ED. We were ready to start meds and our GS emailed:"Oops, I'm pregnant". Now we will lose our hold on our donor if cant confirm a GS for phone consult with IVF Doctor by mid next week and match for cycle Jan10th 2010.
