Surrogate Motherhood - The best surrogate mothers community

Hi Everyone - My husband and I are looking for a surrogate (gestational) and wondering what costs are involved. I am sure it differs between agencies/lawyers/surrogate but I am just looking for a round about price ... to get a rough idea. We only have so much to spend and want this more than anything. We have about $20,000 and not sure if this will cover everything....any help is greatly appreciated =]

Most first time surrogates ask for a compensation around $18,000-$22,000.

Agency fees (separate fee from surrogate fee) would be around $5,000-$20,000

I'm not sure how much each clinic charges for your egg retrieval and for the embryo transfer to the surrogate.

So that you have a better idea of the costs, you should look up a few agencies and look at their list of fees. It will list how much each thing costs. Normally, an arrangement like this would call for about $50,000-$100,000 depending on what your surrogate is asking for in compensation and whether or not she has insurance in place, the agency fee (if you choose to go that route), fees for the clinic and whatnot.

Hi. Maybe you should try looking for your own GS w/out an agency. I know agencys charge A LOT of money. It's ridiculous!

Usually GS recieves around $20,000, adding $5,000 for each additional child if it is multiples. If the GS is put on bedrest, you may have to pay for a maid to come weekly and help her. There are a lot of little things. You could probably find a GS on here without using the aganecy.

I did not think I could have children, I was mistaken. I know the longing for a child. I wish you the best of luck, and never give up!

hi over here in the uk, a surrogate can get from 12k to 15, plus few extra if things like section needed. I have know english surrogates go over to usa and do it, come back home, give birth and couple take baby,, same as i have known english couples go over to usa and have surrogate have baby for them, and they have then brought baby home, this might be cheaper than all agency feels that the usa seem to have compared to uk.
things like medical insurance isnt needed over here, just the surrogates life insured, which is roughly 200 pounds or less.
might be worth weighing up.

Hello I was wondering where you were from. I am a previous surro who was hoping to do it again and as far as comp I am flexable I just loved the experience and seeing my IP's sooo happy.

This is from one agency that I looked into earlier this year. Hope it helps. I also would not use agency unless I was using a TS. You will find someone. It seems there are more surrogates than intended parents on this site.

I just wanted to add that while an agency may not be a good route for some, that does not mean it is not a good route at all. My IP's and I have had a wonderful experience with our agency and I will use them again in the future in a heartbeat. The director has been an awesome source of information and a great sounding board for me especially when I first started out and had lot of questions. She orchestrated all the minute details so wonderfully along our journey so that nothing has been overlooked. My IP's also got their ED from our agency for our 2nd transfer and they agree the agency/director was well worth their investment. This board is not as big as SMO or AAS, but there you will find numerous surrogates and IP's who have been very happy using an agency.

Hi I didn't realize that this line of discussion was so old when I started reading it and your response caught my eye, so I hope you are still a member and see this. I was just wondering what agency you are using I am interested in becoming a GS but think that for my first time an agency would be a safer way to protect myself and family and hopefully minimize any surprises.

I just wanted to say that if your go indy there are some surros out there that won't charge you so much for a GS...I am very flexible when it comes to the compensation.

I would be willing to be your GS without having to go through an agency! Are you still looking?
