40 Year Old Surrogate?
Question for you amazing Intended Parents out there....
Would you consider a possible surrogate who was 39, almost 40? If you did would you expect her to receive less compensation? Do chances of embryo implantation into the uterus decrease at this age and if so, by how much?
Of course, it would take a really special individual with a great personality. Someone who was obsessed about the right diet during pregnancy, prenatal care, and the health of the baby. Someone who was responsible, spiritual, kind, caring, and one of the easiest people in the world to get along with. Someone with proven history of having children of her own with a healthy support system, who took care of herself and her health.
If all of these items were true, but the surrogate were 39/40 - would any IP's (hypothetically) have interest??

Do you now? Well Im 19. And I'm gonna be a surrogate, a TS in fact. I found a great couple that I'm hopefully gonna be doing insems for in 2010. And you know why? Because i've been honest with them and caring!! They know all my downfalls and still wanted to work with me!
I have a daughter who I'm with 24/7. I know multiple girls who are surros that are young, some even experienced. Age does not determine maturity in all cases. Maybe the crowd you hang with may make you feel that way but don't jump on here randomly one day, and start judging us!! As far as I'm concerned you were here to warn people so why still here? At this point your just a nuisance! I was cutting you slack at first but your just an immature "trouble starter!!!" if I get banned for this or complained at for it so be it. Im tired of hearing we aren't fit because of our age... My life is my life. You don't live it nor are you part of it, so don't judge it.

Oh, crap. Here we go. No offense, Sarah. But you just opened up a big ole' can of worms with those last few lines. We have some pretty amazing ladies on this site who are 19, 20, 21. Thats all I'm going to say about that. But I do agree with you, 39/40 is not too old to be a surrogate. But, I'm not an IP.

Sarah you've jumped to conclusions with your 'prejudice' comment.
I was asking about my sister who is interested in being a surrogate. I encouraged her that there would be IP's out there interested despite her age which is why I've entreated upon the surro community for support.
Try asking questions next time rather than making assumptions.
In addition, I have read up fully on the Carolyn and Britt drama that you've brought to this site. Please do not bring it to my blog.
I agree those girls look immature but that does not speak for the rest of the 18-21 years old. But as my good friend Dana said, you have no idea how much that topic has been beaten to death around here and yes, lets not re-open a new can of worms on that.

It's the RE who decides, not the IP's. Haven't you seen all the grandmas in the news though who have carried their own grandbabies? Previous pregnancy history usually determines whether an RE is accepted. I'm almost 45 and going strong. ;)

Awwwww. What a sweet pic! I hope your sister has made a decision to pursue this. Ya don't know unless you try! RE's usually like to see a pregnancy recently...like within a few years but maybe there's ways around that.

Jenn- I feel age is not a factor as long as health and psych is in check. IPs have different views on different things. If I were an IP I take a healthy 39 year old I connect with over a healthy25 that I don't.
